This is a colonial mid eighteenth century slant front desk, with a note in it that says it was from Wales, Massachusetts. The primary wood is black walnut and the secondary wood is white pine. It has a dovetailed main case with the dovetails exposed on the top. The interior is fitted with 8 varying size drawers and 7 cubby holes. It is 36 inches wide, 42 inches tall and 19 1/4 inches deep. The desk has the appearance of an early New England piece of country furniture. The brass drawer pulls and lock escutcheons have been replaced, and 3 of the drawer / lid locks are gone. # F006
