New York City Watercolor Painting

This is a New York City watercolor painting, on paper of a street scene. There is a coal company in the fore ground, with a 2 tiered bridge and tall brick buildings in the back ground. The watercolor shows steam and smoke, giving an impression of air pollution. This is in sharp contrast to the New York City of today. It is signed twice on the front ” E Hellman 44 ” and once on the back frame “Edith Hellman 231 E 76 St N Y C  N Y “. The sight line is 5 1/4 inches wide and 6 1/4 tall. The frame is a wide curved ogee wood frame with several layers of paint. This is an interesting New York scene, showing changes from 75 years ago.    # P003
