This is a cased presentation coin silver serving spoon made by T. STEELE & SON HARTFORD CONN. The spoon has a repousse bowl with a hand cut edge, a twisted stem and applied rams head. It is housed in a purple velvet and goatskin hide covered presentation case. The spoon is engraved with popular early 1800s designs. It is 6 3/4 inches long and weighs .96 ounces. T STEELE is a listed silversmith in Hartford Conn. in 1800 and is listed again in 1815 as T STEELE & CO. This is a nice example of early 1800s New England silver. The back of the stem is marked coin and the only observed damage is the goatskin hinge for the case is broken.   #  S007
